"OOH!  Aren't you a cute baby?" 
"It's time to change that wet diaper." 
"Maybe you'd like to try oatmeal today."
"The shot might hurt, but I'll hold you the whole time, and it will be over soon."
"Do you want to wear your red shirt or your yellow one?"
"Tell me what you did at circle time today."

It is through the live modeling of adults they know and love that children learn language -- first listening, then speaking, and later writing and reading.  Language is the building block of relationships and the basis of all learning.  Surrounding children with our words is one very important way that we nurture them and help them grow smarter
